Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008Silver traded lower overnight but edged above yesterday’s close (9.38) right before the open. It shot higher in the opening minutes of floor trade but bounced off resistance at 9.75 and did not revisit that level the rest of the day.
Copper Closes Down 2% to 159.90
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008Copper plunged to a low of 157.50 overnight before paring its losses into the open. Copper continued to rally during the floor session, but it bounced off resistance at 162.50 three times, and retreated below 160 on the close.
Asian Equity Softness Pushes Gold Lower
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008Bullion slipped lower in early European trade to record $763.05 lows.
Broad weakness in Asian equities was the catalyst for early safe haven trades in Europe, which benefited the dollar and weighed on gold. Equities turned higher and the market pared safe haven trades, which allowed gold to move back up to $771.40 before it consolidated in a tight range close to $770.00 ahead of the N.Y. open.
