327,000 Initial Jobless Claims versus 333k revised
Initial Jobless Claims for the week ending October 27 are 327k versus an upwardly revised 333k (up 2k). Continuing Claims for the week ending October 20 are 2.588mln, an increase of 65k from the preceeding week’s revised 2.523mln. The largest increase in initial claims was in California, over 7,000, of which only 1,000 are being attributed to the wildfires; the remainder to construction, agriculture and fishing. New York lost nearly 2,600 jobs from construction and manufacturing. Claims dropped most steeply in MI, down 4992, due to fewer layoffs in the automobile industry.
